My first katana and I love it. Well balanced blade and the fact that they engrave for free is nice. I got the electroplated black instead of red. The way they ship it is fantastic. I own and have used several live blades. This one is of better construction than all but one, which cost me $1000. The blade is almost full tang and well secured with two pins. The blade is well designed with a nice long fuller and comes semi-sharp. It took little time, however, to get it sharp enough to cut hairs. I have not done any Tameshigiri with it yet but have full confidence.

I was very impressed by the quality of this katana when I pulled it out of the box. The blade was well made and came with a certificate of authenticity that detailed the basic qualities of the sword as a whole. I wouldn't say it was razor sharp but it was sharp enough to do the basic cut tests, in which it held as expected for it's particular price. The artwork on the handle is well crafted and gives it it's own unique look which I personally like. I would say it's better than average for its price, so if you want a better sword you'll need to pay more.

I love this sword! The coloring is beautiful and it came oiled with a plastic covering to protect the blade during shipping. I would have given it a full five stars, but the sheathe does not actually fit the blade, so the Katana knocks against the wood when it's sheathed, unlike the Mashiro that I bought earlier. Very nice katana. Especially for the price. For 100 dollars you cannot beat this sword. I'm not a self proclaimed master swordsman like most of the people who write these reviews, and I'm not gonna pretend like I am. That being said I don't know for sure how katanas are graded traditionally so I'm giving this one 5 stars based on how it appeals to me. Aesthetically appealing across the board. Real hamon, everything was just as advertised. It came nice and sharp, although I plan on honing it more. I cut a few tree branches with ease, and some others weren't so easy (which may have been my technique or lack thereof). I don't know if it's razor sharp or not or how to determine that, but it sliced a paper into ribbons a few times. I would buy this sword again, in fact I probably will. No blade wobble. Yes it's made in China, what isn't these days.

This sword is tough! Because the material it is made out of is polypropylene instead of traditional wood, it is a lot more flexible when it comes into impact with something solid. This means there is a less likely hood of chipping or shattering after many uses. Do not let that fool you; however, because if you were to swing this at something, it will still do a lot of damage because while Polypropylene is "flexible," it is still very tough.

Alright.. As a outdoor survivalist/hunter I've had the pleasure of trying many different kinds of blades of all kinds. This particular sword has impressed alot so far. The wrapping is tight, the blade is sharp and the quality of steel is outstanding. My first attempt at a cut was a milk jug I had filled with water... Thinking I needed a fast strong cut I swung fairly hard only to think I had missed. The blade cut so smooth through the bottle (starting at the handle) I didn't even feel it connect with the bottle. Not sure if its luck but the first cut I did left no water on the blade, I thought that was pretty cool. I've handled many katanas and blades and ill tell you this one has an intimidation factor. Even if you are familiar with swords be mindful this one has a slightly different shape than traditional katanas. This is NOT A TOY. I'm very pleased and recommend this for collectors and someone looking for a SOLID beginner battle ready weapon. After several tests with meat/bone believe this to be an excellent choice for defense. I live in the mountains where there are wolves and mountain lions and I feel confident this would put an aggressive animal down easily. The handling is a bit blade heavy but the handle is long enough to have a comfortable swing with alot of blade side leverage to cleave with ease. Again, highly recommended.

My girlfriend bought this sword for me for Christmas but let me sneak a peak early. Katana is well built with a very strong blade. Very sturdy construction, the only thing I was disappointed in was the fact mine was not very sharp out of the box, and because of the finish on the blade I am concerned about sharpening it myself. Worst comes to worst I will pay someone to do it for me.

These are great practice swords. I've been using them for full contact sparring for months now. The only thing I've noticed is the hand guards tend to loosen relatively easily during hard strikes. Not really an issue. After using traditional wooden bokken for years, I'm never going back. I don't know why they're so expensive all of a sudden.

This is a sturdy katana, thicker than most blades used for tatami cutting. It is alo heavier and takes some practice to get used to, but when you are used to it, it slices through tatami mats like it is air! Very happy with it, so far no bend in it, while thinner blade katanas in use need work when hitting tatami the wrong way.

I just wanted the wakizashi for a photography piece I was working on. I didn't know that this came as two swords that fit together. I was pleasantly surprised! The edge was a little sharper than another prop sword I had, so be aware of that if you have kids. I will say it's not as shiny as it looks in the picture, but maybe that's because I didn't polish it or something.

This is my third katana and I instantly love this one the most. It is heavier than the others but the balance makes it feel perfect. All the fittings are tight and beautiful. The scabbard fits tightly too(actually too tight, but it will loosen over time). It arrived with light oil on it, but I found 1 spot of rust(about 2mm long by .25mm wide - tiny) that I will sand off before I sharpen. Oh yeah, it has an edge but I wouldn't call it sharp. It wouldn't pass the paper test out of the box, which is fine by me because I like to sharpen by blade myself. Looks like the images. I would have liked if it had come with a certificate about its HRC rating. Came with a blue cloth cover bag. I planned to take off the handle and give the blade a black satin rustoleum coat, but it is so beautiful I'm not sure if I will now.

Had a very small rust spot. Not a big deal. It came off with 1,000 grit. Almost with the 3,000 grit Japanese Whetstone. Very happy for the price. $300.00 for a $600.00 Katana. Very sturdy, and thick. Got some weight to it as well. Girls would have a hard time if they are not strong enough. Especially if they try and use it. I give it 4.7 out of 5 stars. Must own, if you can.

The sword is everything I expected it to be. It came sharp but I sharpened it to what it should be and just tapping the blade causes a good gash. I dropped a steak on it and it cut right through it like a knife through butter after I sharpened it. But just using it out of the box I was able to cut through a rolled up carpet. This sword is a beautiful sword, and such a bargain. The Tsuba (hand guard) is absolutely gorgeous, the pommel is secured tightly, and the sword is extremely well balanced. The blade in beautiful as well, you can see that it's folded steel and mine came extremely sharp. The scabbard is nicely crafted and fits the sword perfectly. The first thing I did when i got it was a paper test, after i wiped off all the oil/wax it was coated in for storage/shipping. it cut well, then reoiled it. There was a few scuffs on the blade up near the point but they didn't really concern me, I took off the handle to see the full tang, and getting the bamboo pegs out was sort of a difficult task for the first time, they were in there tight, and getting the handle away from the tsuba was very hard because of how tight it is, (same goes for putting it back on). all in all, a very well made sword, beautifully decorated tsuba, i looked at a lot of different functional swords 200 dollars and less before I decided on this one, and I'm happy I did. even with the scuffs, I still look forward to getting a display stand and displaying this thing. There is a tiny dent on the front tsuba guard, (the piece between the tsuba and the blade that can't even be removed (at least I couldn't)) however it's so small it's hardly noticable unless the light hits it just right, so it doesn't bother me.

The sword is relatively well balanced, ever so slightly tip heavy but overall the Katana feels comfortable in my hand and the weight doesn't throw me off. I had some slight difficulty removing the mekugi closest the tsuba but other than that the Katana came apart cleanly for inspection and cleaning.

One of the strongest blades I won that isn't truly Damascus steel, but is very close to the strength of such. This blade has a good weight to it, which makes it very easy to cut through many things given it has a sharp edge, which mine does. The design and construction are marvelous and I would definitely give this blade some consideration if you are looking for a good sword.

I purchased this Katana to protect myself from zombies. You can imagine my disappointment when shipping was so slow that zombies had killed my whole family before it finally got to me. However, when it finally got here I was very impressed with the attention to detail. It is very sharp and light weight. The colors are beautiful. I have already used it to kill 7 zombies. One of which was the UPS man who had me sign for it. I didn't get a good look at him before I struck, but he appears to have turned back into a human after my fatal blow. I am currently hiding in a window well and spying on the zombies to learn their ways. When the time is right, I will strike. 5/5 would buy again!

It may be a replica but it's a nice one and ranks higher than other swords I've bought. Decent edge. The ronin-02 has the best edge of mine for the three but I like my collection to have different looking swords or at least saya/tsukas so this was necessary to add to the collection.

I love this weapon. It maybe lighter than wood, but it is far more durable. I also like its lightness because it can used with speed. I plan to get a second one to have a matching pair. I have 2 Wooden Wakazashi Bokken and 1 Wooden Tanto Bokken, and all three are stored because they get chipped and start to split. I will only use Cold Steel Trainers from now on. The Cold Steel trainers don't have the distracting vibration that wood creates hitting a target. Lastly, a well placed strike with a Cold Steel trainer can be just as brutal as a Wooden Bokken strike.

Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. Displayed on my living room wall with the others and looks like a monster in comparison. The extra long tsuka with the leather wrapping is beautiful and feels good in the hands. Gives great leverage and adds that element of surprise with an extra long reach.

Now I may be mistaken, but this looks just like the Musashi Bamboo Warrior katana. Which in that case isn't a pretty awesome bugmdget katana with real carbon steel and hamon. But it's also like only a $100 sword. Soo... Look for the authentic Musashi stamp or Smith signature on the tang.
